1041 E-file: Preparing the E-filed Return

You must create a data file for every return you wish to e-file. The following are major tasks to create a data file:

  1. Enable e-file.
  2. Enter PIN or signature information.
  3. Attach any necessary supporting documents in PDF format.
  4. Enter any additional information.
  5. Check for e-file validation errors.
  6. Review e-file diagnostics.
  7. Create an e-file for the return.
  8. Send the Qualified e-file to the IRS.
  9. Check the status of the e-filed return.
  10. View rejection notices.
