990, 1041, 1065, and 1120 Header Record
The header records for 990, 1041, 1065, and 1120 Data Connection import and export files have the identical structure and the same six data fields. The following is an example of an 1120 header record:

Field number 1 will always be populated in a Data Connection export file but is optional in an import file. If the field is populated in an import file, the specified tax return locator is updated. If it is not populated, a new tax return database for the specified tax return type is created.
Field number 5 is not used by Data Connection and is not imported into the target tax return database. The field is informational only.
