990 E-file: Reviewing Attachments
The most common attachment for a 990 return is the 8453-EO. Form 8453-EO shall be completed and signed by all required parties and then scanned into a PDF document and inserted into the electronic return as a binary attachment.
- Navigate to E-file > Return > Attachments > PDF Attachments > Summary.
- You may add other attachments. For a complete list, please check the Binary Attachment List, located by clicking the indicated hyperlink on the screen.

Selecting Binary Attachments for the E-file
- Navigate to E-file > Return > Attachments > PDF Attachments > Summary.
- Click the Attach PDF button.
- In the Attachment Related To field, select Federal. State attachments are not allowed at this time.
- Browse to select a PDF file.
- When you select the PDF file, the Description field will automatically show the PDF file name. You cannot change the TTA Filename field.
- To delete attachments, select Delete Attachment.
- When all attachments are added or deleted, select OK.
- For informational purposes, you may enter details about the attachments.
- Return to the e-file process.
Adding General Dependencies
You may add General Dependencies to the e-file as follows:
- Navigate to E-file > Return > Attachments > General Dependencies > Add General Dependency.
- Enter the form line or instruction reference.
- Enter the explanation for the general dependency.
