5500 E-file: Preparing the Electronic Part of the Return

You must create a data file for every locator you wish to e-file. The following major tasks to create a data file are detailed in this section:

• Ensure that the Auto Compute is activated.
• Enable e-file and auto-calculation.
• Enter any additional information and review PDF attachment details.
• Enter e-signature information (including UserID, PIN, and signer’s name).
• Create an e-file for the return.
• Review e-file diagnostics for XML validation errors.
