1040 E-file: Preparing the Paper Return
Print the tax return. The 1040 tax application will generate forms that must be filed with the IRS and forms that are provided to the taxpayer as a record.
Portion Filed with the IRS
Form 8453 - US Individual Income Tax Declaration for Electronic Filing. This form will print if attachments are selected to be sent to the IRS.
Form 8453 is the transmittal form for the paper documents. Form 8453 is mailed to the IRS service center where the e-filed return was transmitted. This must be done on the next working day after the ERO (paid preparer) receives the acknowledgment from Thomson Reuters that the tax return was accepted.
